i always think hi-tech should not discard the advantages of low tech. car door is typical example, power door/window is fine, but can't the maker keep the choice of manual control available? my friend's car battery went dead, the window unfortunately was open at that time, and then rain came! we had to find several guys to push the car into a garage.
i always drive a manual car.
then about the bullet train accident 1 year ago, i welcome all hi tech control and communication tech, no problem there, but for safety can't they keep some low tech also, my idea:
any train must be in constant contact with the one ahead (or behind), let's by cell phones. so the assistant driver must always know how far ahead the other train is? if for any reason, contact was lost, then it's automatic call for slowing down.
