It might be true that the western and eastern civilization boomed solely because of their luck. It is also true that they boomed not by tranforming surronding hunter-gatherers from "non-agricultural" to agricultural, but by chasing them away or simply wiping them out. Now, let's replace "agricultural" to "industrial" in the above sentence. It might be true too.
