physiological and psychological process. First of all, not all frequencies of sound are directional. Lord Rayleigh's experiment in 1876 shown that at frequencies above 4000 Hz, the localization of sound is due to the intensity difference at two ears, e.g: at 10 kHz, the difference could be 30 db, but at 1 kHz, it is only 8 db. Between 1k and 100(?) Hz, it is due to interaural time difference, or simply phase difference.
