Many slaves worked in comfortble enviroment
as butlers, tutors , accountants, architects
for their masters. They could save money and
buy their freedom or simply freeed by their
massters, and thus became Roman citizens.

Even slaves working on farm were not in
bad situation. Only gladiators and mine slaves
were very much worse off
