are quickly gone. For strategy bombers like B-52, they never dive bomb, because those plane just can't do that. For most of the other jet aircraft, even dropping gravity bombs, don't dive bomb. One reason is that the biggest challenge from ground is SAM, hence most of them fly low to avoid radar detection. Because of flying low, they can't dive again, or they will hit the ground. The typical way is to do "Toss bombing", which instead of dive, the aircraft pulls up and flip. So it drops bomb on a higher altitude, This gives more momentum to the bomb also. If the aircraft flies high, there is no need for deep dive due the better making bombs making them a lot more accurate. Of course, later in the 90s, the smart bombs make dive bombing totally unnecessary.
