the joke works for his audience for these reasons:
1. He and his audience has to have enough knowledge about China and CR to understand the issue, let alone laugh at the laughable;
2. His team does not have the expertise and knowledge to know with confidence that all of these, mostly claimed by native Chinese, are solid enough for him to joke about.

I'd love to see it but it won't happen, at least for now.
